10U- Elite 32 World Series (FL)- #4 San Diego Stars (CA) vs. #11 West Covina Fear (CA) Print E-mail

The San Diego Stars survived a late inning rally to hold off the West Covina Fear 5-4 on Friday, July 17th in the 10U Elite 32 World Series. The Stars were led by winning pitcher Brock Mosier who pitched 3-1/2 innings. Offensively JJ Norton powered the Stars, hitting a triple and driving in 4 runs.

A Jacob Mora sacrifice bunt set up an Angel Maya RBI single to centerfield to give the Fear a 1-0 lead in the third. Brock Mosier came in to relieve Stars starting pitcher Carlos Arellano, giving up an RBI fielders choice to Isaiah Parra to make the score 2-0 before retiring Adam Medrano on a pop out.

The Stars bounced back in the bottom of the third when JJ Norton hit a 2-RBI triple to tie the score. After a scoreless fourth, the Stars took the lead on another 2-RBI hit by Norton and an RBI double by Carlos Arellano, making it 5-2 Stars.

Chris Moya started a Fear rally in the sixth, lining a single to centerfield. Moya eventually scored on a passed ball to bring the score to 5-3. Ronnie Parham added another Fear run with an RBI fielders choice, closing the Star lead to 5-4. But Star pitcher Brock Mosier stood strong, getting Jesse Cruz to pop out with the tying run on third to secure the San Diego win, 5-4.
