By Richard Hurd On Sunday, 10U Mizuno’s Glory Baseball would slug their way to a 2009 Atlanta Super NIT Championship. They defeated the 10U TPSA Bandits, 20-10, but not before the Bandits gave the Glory a taste of their own medicine. The Cullman, Alabama squad rallied for 6 runs in the last inning, showing no signs of slowing down until the last out. Both teams played with the heart, skill, tenacity, and class of champion-caliber ball teams. Earlier on Sunday the Alabama Attack eliminated the Home Plate Chilidogs 6-3. They later fell to the Bandits 3-2, who had previously defeated the East Alabama Storm 8-0. The Georgia Grip fell to the Gulf Coast Lightning 6-2, and the PTB Home Plate Chilidogs lost 13-5 to Mizuno’s Glory Baseball. The Glory would subsequently eliminate the Lightning, 13-6, and the Bandits, 10-5, to secure their spot in the championship game. The West TN Wildcats edged the GA Yard Dogs by a close 8-7 score, as the Sandtown Red Sox defeated PTB-The Elite 6-1. The Kennesaw Express fell to the Bay Bombers 6-3, as did the Midway Dirty Dawgs to the TPSA Bandits 10-4. The Rex Sox beat the Wildcats 9-5 and the TPSA Bandits beat the Bay Bombers 10-1 to face off in a semi-final duel, where the TPSA Bandits eliminated the Red Sox with a 4-3 victory. Of course, the glory of 1st place belonged to Mizuno’s Glory Baseball, as the TPSA Bandits were finally defeated 20-10.
