- By Ernie Rapiere June 25, 2009 Cooperstown, week 3 Semi-finals ended with both the #1 and #2 seed teams going down by surprising margins. What started out to be a duel between teams from California and Florida, has now ended as a finals game that will feature two teams from Georgia. The #1 seed San Diego Stars North fell to the #4 seed 6-4-3 DP Academy Cougars. Nick Allen blasted a homerun, but it was not enough to revive his team as the Stars fell 6-2 to a determined and talented team of Cougars saw a championship in their sights. In the second half of the semi-finals, there was a similar story with the #2 seed and the team that had risen to be ranked #1 in the nation by TravelBallSelect. The #14 seed Georgia Bandits played like a team on a raid as they dominated and completely shut down a very good Mizuno’s Glory team by a 9-3 margin. This year, the 10U championship game will match two teams from Georgia. Stay tuned for Championship Game Highlights.
