10U Cooperstown Wk 3 Bracket Play - Day 1

June 24, 2009 Cooperstown Dreams Park, week 3 – The first day bracket play rounds has now been completed with only two upsets of the top 16 seeded teams. Specifically, the #22 seed Charlotte Megastars upset the the #11 seed Virginia BaySox by a score of 7-0. In this upset win, Sutton (Megastars pitcher) tossed a no hitter facing 22 batters and striking out 12. The only other upset was handed out by the #50 seed Miami Suns over the Weston Hawks Elite by a score of 3-1.

All other top 16 seed teams advanced to their 2nd round of bracket play.

Key highlights of first rounds of bracket play:
The #1 seed San Deigo Stars’ Carlos Arellano hit a walk off home run to culminate a 13-0 run rule win over the Memphis Tigers after 4 innings of play. The #2 seed Mizuno’s Glory also shutout their rival Miami Titans 12-0.

In other play, Team TABU’s Mason Behiel hit a 2 run homerun to blast the TABU past the West Boca Panthers by a score of 8-3.

North Florida Huricanes’ Gleneski hit 2 home runs and also had 4 RBI’s while leading his team to a 7-5 win over Sandlot (NC).

The Long Beach Fury shut out the Miami Angels 5-0 as Fury pitcher Nathan Flores had 11 KO’s.

The 6-4-3 Cougars (GA) out gunned #29 seed TEAM Combat by a score of 7-1.

The East Cobb Scorpians, Brendan Kemp’s homerun wasn’t enough to mount a comeback as the So CAL Diamond Dawgs slamed a 9-4 win after getting a strong performance by Chase Sanguinetti who hit a 3 run homerun.

Bandit Baseball (GA) beat the North Alabama Giants as Bandits, Tucker Bradley hit a homerun, Tyler Calvert also hit a 2 RBI homerun, and Sean Coalkey went 3-3 with 2 RBI’s.
