9U Update - USSSA Elite 24 - Day 1 Pool Play

9U USSSA Elite 24 World Series - Day 1 Pool Play Rounds opened on a heat scorched at Disney’s Wide World of Sports stadium where the top 9 year old teams in the nation have come to play in the USSSA Elite 24 tournament. This prestigious event is the Grand Finale of the 2008 season.

In opening play, two teams who come from perennial power house clubs, faced off in what will no doubt be the 1^st of many times these young athletes will face each other during the next 8 years. On this day, the Banditos Black proved to have the hot bats at they sweep past the San Diego Stars by a score of 14-5. The Bandits were hitting well throughout their complete batting order.

The Banditos also benefited by excellent pitching from both Joshua Lamb and Hunter Lytle who kept the Stars bats under control for most of the game. While this was a game where all Bandito players contributed from top to bottom of the batting order, it is notable that pitcher, Hunter Lytle, also had several key hits that put the Banditos ahead in the game and also put the game out of reach. The Banditos will continue play tomorrow at 12:30pm against the Quad City Heat, a team that dropped their opener 15-0 to the Mid Mo Magic.

The Stars will be looking to bounce back tomorrow when they face the Texas Nationals at 8am. This game will be a big test for the Stars as the Nationals beat the Dye Hard today by a score of 9-1. This should be an excellent game between two very good teams.
