DEFENDING CHAMPION ALLEGHENY TIGERS DEFEAT SOUTH OAKLAND A'S 9-6
July 6, 2008: Akron, Ohio:

The defending Freedom Classic champion Allegheny Tigers came back from a 6-4 deficit to score 5 runs in the top of the 7th to defeat the South Oakland A's 9-6 in another great match up of outstanding teams playing in this event.
The Tigers used 5 singles, a triple, a HBP, and a walk to score the 5 runs. Allegheny was led by #21 Boo Vasquez , who had a 400 foot HR and 2 singles for 5 RBI.  Boo is recognized nationally as one the top 15U players. The Tigers strong reliever #25 Ron Bernick shut down the powerful A's in the final 2 innings for the win. #12 Ben Pritchard also had a great game for the Tigers.
In defeat. the South Oakland A's had great games by #21 Greg Fettes who went 3-4 with 2 doubles and shortstop #3 Dokey who went 2-3 with a triple along with his display of excellent defense.
Of note today is that reliever Benick also came in yesterday to pitch 5 innings of no hit ball in the must win final pool play 6-0 victory over another top Michigan team, the Motor City Hit Dogs.  Tanner Wilt started the game in the combined no hitter, which was just what the Tigers needed as they made the Championship Round by edging out the Seawolves by 1 run allowed in the tiebreaker for advancement in the tournament.
Can the Tigers continue their amazing run by defeating one of the top Ohio teams, PB Baseball, an Ohio club that produces excellent teams at all age levels.  Just another top game to follow at this TBS Tournament of Champions!
