2008 14U College Station Stallions (TX) - TBS HM (Honorable Mention) Print E-mail

The 10 man roster of the College Station Stallions consistently played in one of baseball's toughest district in the country.  Keeping a roster together across the years amongst fierce competition has been a challenge and strength of this team.  However, 7 of these players will play at the same high school next season.  With a strong group of pitchers, the Stallions found themselves "in" most tourneys late on Sundays, all year long. 

The Stallions defense was led by all left handed outfielders and big power hitting infielders, which created a nice balance.  The Stallions fell a little short of qualifying for the Elite 24.  However, strong showings at the Oklahoma City Super NIT (3rd), Texas Majors Championship (2nd) and the IBC World Series (4th) let opposing teams know that this group could play.  Defensive leaders included Alec Paradowski in the infield and Ford Moore in the outfield. 

Off the mound, leadership came from the dominating Riley Ferrell, Mr. Consistent Ford Moore, and the big curve ball of Colby Turton.  The Stallions HR power comes from Riley Ferrell, Josh Schulman, Travis "I drive the team bus" Payne, and Colby Turton.  This is a tough team that opponents shouldn't ever take lightly when the top arms are on the mound.  The Stallions loaned Ford Moore and Riley Ferrell to the Triple Crown Champions McKinney Marshals and Colby Turton and Ford Moore to the Elite 24's Runner Up Central Texas Raiders, which gives you an idea of how dep they ar already. Another arm or bat and the Stallions could leave the Honorable Mention ranks to go to the top ranks very quickly.
