2008 14U Alabama Storm Print E-mail
                 14U Alabama Storm
alabama_storm_14u.jpgThe 2008 Alabama Storm will compete throughout the southeast with our goal to play for the third year in the Elite 24.  Due to High School/ JV schedules, our season will start April 25 in Pace, FL (ASP'S Wooden Bat Classic).  The Storm will play 8 to 10 tournaments, which will include 3 or 4 Super NIT’s, and the Battle in the South.  The Storm returns 7 or 8 core players from the 07’ team.  These players include 5 top pitchers:  RHP’s Zac Fowler, Justin Hathcock, Brandon Peterson, Michael Druhan, and Russ Mosley (TBS All-American Team 07’) with LHP Sean Kennedy as a possibility for a few dates.  The Storm also returns IF Brock Gilheart and the leadoff for the last two seasons in Jordan Ebert.
The Storm has added several top athletes in the southeast for the 08’ campaign.  Addison Russell (SS Pace Blaze) and Aaron Coombs (Bayou Red Sox) should strengthen an infield of Gilheart, Mosley, Hathcock, and Fowler.  Kyle Barrett (East Cobb Astros 07’) will anchor an outfield consisting of Ebert, Peterson, and three additions of Patrick Ervin (Pace Blaze), Austin Dykes (LHP/OF OTC Bearcats), and Chris Adams (LHP/UT Oxford Yellow Jackets).  Myles Gentry (RHP/UT Pace Blaze) will be another Sunday starter that could make the Storm’s staff as deep as any.  The Storm’s talented pitching will be handled by Zack Hebert (Bayou Red Sox), Michael McClellan (OTC Bearcats), and Druhan.  The addition of the two new catchers should solidify the Storm’s defense.  The Storm’s line-up will be full of power and speed that could send 7 lefties to the dish on any given day.         We look forward to games with the East Cobb Astros and TA/Bases Loaded in 08’.  Some epic battles played out between these teams in 07’ at the Super NIT in Birmingham and in the Elite 24.  If those two games were any indication of what’s to come this season, then we’re all in for a great and competitive 2008.   In closing, the Storm’s coaches and parents would like to wish their sons and all the other athletes a safe and successful 2008 season.  We can’t wait to “check the bracket” and remember the walk to the field at Disney is a lot shorter this year.  See you at the Yard!!!
