13U Elite 24 Update: East Cobb Astros vs Banditos Gold Print E-mail

No. 8 East Cobb Astros 4, No. 13 Banditos Gold 3

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The East Cobb Astros continued their third consecutive game of bracket play, defeating Banditos Gold 4-3 Friday to advance to the semifinals of the 13 & Under Major Elite World Series at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

Brad Sansing homered for the Astros, who are ranked No. 8 by Travel Ball Select. Banditos Gold is 13th.

On the mound, Bruce Kirkpatrick was lights out, recording eight strikeouts in five innings to earn the win.

"That was great pitching by Bruce," Astros coach Tony Coward said. "He threw quality pitches, stayed ahead in the count, and had great control."

Brandon Whiteford had two hits, a run and an RBI for the Astros, and Nick High had an RBI.

For Banditos Gold, Dylan Ebbs hit a home run and Shelby Ganey and Kyle Ott each scored a run.
