13U Elite 24 Update: Rocket City Stingers - All American Sports Academy

No. 2 ranked Rocket City Stingers 13, No. 14 ranked All American Sports Academy 5

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The #2 ranked Rocket City Stingers won a critical elimination game today by beating the 14th ranked All American Sports Academy baseball club from Tracy, California by a score of 13-5. This win moves the Stingers back into contention for the 13U USSSA Elite 24 championship and earns them a rematch with the OC Hawks, also a team from California. The OC Hawks had shut down the Stingers by a score of 13-0 earlier today.

In this game against the All American Sports Academy, the Stingers jumped out to a 6-0 lead with the help of a 3-run homer by Jackson Stephens. They carried this lead into the fourth inning, when the American Sports Academy answer with a 5-run inning driven from by a 2xRBI double from Jovan Finley, an RBI single from Jose Vasquez, along with RBI’s from Mark Mathais and Tanner Turner.

But the Stingers responded by tacking seven more runs that were generated from the bats of Austin Sanders, Danny Sanchez, Mark Hernandez, Taylor Propst, and Victor Cole to take a 13-5 in six innings of play. Chase Hamilton performed exceptionally well on the mound for the Stingers as he contributed 5 full innings of pitching.

With this win, the Stingers will move back into the Championship bracket and will face the OC Hawks of Rawlings, a team from Laguna Niguel, California. This opening pitch for this game is scheduled for 8am Friday morning.
