13U Elite 24 Update: Team Anderson vs #1 Ranked Banditos Black

No. 3 Team Anderson 13, No. 1 Banditos Black 5

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The #1 ranked 13U Banditos Black lost for the first time in more than two seasons Wednesday, falling to third-ranked Team Anderson 13-5 in the first round of bracket play at the 13 & Under Major Elite World Series at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

The Banditos jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning, but Team Anderson responded with 13 unanswered runs over the next four innings.

Zack Weise homered for Team Anderson, and Manny Segura hit a three-run double to put Anderson up 11-3 in the sixth inning.

Down 13-3 in the bottom of the sixth, Banditos scored twice but couldn't cut the lead far enough to escape the 8-run rule.

Eric Hutting and Marcus Greene also had RBI hits for Team Anderson, who had been waiting for a shot at Banditos for a few years. The two teams never met before Wednesday.

TEAM Anderson Coaches knew their team had grown today. Their thoughts were, "We had to play these guys hard until the last out. If we let loose for one second that team would come back and beat us." Our guys have waited for this game for a few years. We haven't had a chance to play them until now. The last two days have struggled, but I'm proud of the way our guys responded and played a great game out here."
