13U Results - Georgia Triple Crown State Tournament

During the Georgia Triple Crown State Championship, two of the TravelBallSelects.com top ten teams were competing, the Georgia Bandits #8 and the Atlanta Monarchs #10. The Bandits went 3-0 in pool play and the Monarchs fell to 2-1. This put the teams on a collision course for the quarter finals instead of the Championship game as many expected when these two titans entered the tournament. Sunday morning started out with both teams shutting out their opponents. That led to the much awaited match up. The Bandits started with their recent addition David Mayo and TBS Player to Watch Josh Hart. The Monarchs countered with their own newly roster player Duane Underwood and TBS Player to Watch Darrius Hill. The Monarchs hot bats and great defense pushed them ahead of the very well balanced and well coached Bandits. The Monarchs prevailed 11-4, before going on to win the semi finals 19-4 and the championship 17-2 (against the USTBA number 1 ranked Roswell Hornets). Both of these teams will be competing in the Elite World Series in Disney, and in next weeks USSSA Georgia State Major Championship. Also in the State Tournament is TBS #6 East Cobb Astros. Three teams from TravelBallSelect’s top ten means great potential match ups.
