Tournament Results (6/7/08):  13U Dallas Super NIT

The 13U division featured four teams that swept their games, including No. 17 Texas Tornadoes and No. 20 Ark-La-Tex TORNADO!, but it was not always easy.  The Tornadoes, the highest-ranked team entering the tournament, trailed 3-2 entering the sixth inning before putting a 12-spot on the board to run away with a 14-3 victory over the Texas Wranglers.  The Tornadoes fell behind 3-0 after just two innings, but crept back to within 3-2 with single runs in the fourth and fifth, including a home run by Christian Gonzales.  In the top of the sixth the floodgates opened. Mason Baker was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and Gonzalez followed with a double. Mya Leuta-Douyere then belted a two-run single to give the Tornadoes a 4-3 lead.  Ty Cook singled and Niko Buentello doubled to drive in a run. Austin McDonald, Dillon Harp and Josh Gorney all walked in succession and Julio Olivieri doubled to make it 10-3.  After a walk to Baker, Gonzales doubled in a run and Leuta-Douyere capped the rally with a three-run home run to put the run rule in effect.
Joining the Tornadoes as undefeated teams are the Ark-La-Tex TORNADO!, the Texas Hurricanes and the North Texas Thunder.  The Hurricanes allowed just two runs in two games, while the TORNADO! had a run-rule victory over the Texas Legends followed by a close 3-1 win against North Texas Elite.  The North Texas Thunder had wins of 10-6 over Blue Thunder and 9-0 against the Centex Longhorns.

The championship game of the 12-and-under division is scheduled to be played at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
