Tournament Results: 13U East Teams Battle It Out In 'Ship'

It was a much anticipated showdown between two of the top East region teams at the Flag Day Festival tournament in Delaware.  The Beaver Valley Red (PA) team which is ranked 22nd by Travel Ball Select and the upstart Brooklawn Baseball team, who has recently knocked off the NC Cleveland Indians and RBI Redwings, met for the first time this year.  Following Saturday's pool play, Beaver Valley grabbed the #1 seed and Brooklawn the #2 seed and the 2 teams eventually met in finals.  Going into that game, Beaver Valley outscored its opponents 47 - 4, while Brooklawn outscored its opponents 40 - 5.

A 3-run HR in the 1st inning for Beaver Valley proved to be enough offense as they were able to withstand several rally attempts by Brooklawn in a 5-0 championship game win.  Brooklawn who was playing without their centerfielder and leadoff hitter (broken ankle) and a top pitcher (injured on a batted ball) has emerged as a team to recon with.
