                                                  13U Club All-Star Blue

cluballstar.jpg Don't look now, but a new contender has emerged in the debate over who is the best 13u team in Northern California. From the Central Valley comes Club All-Star, an academy run by former minor-league pitcher JD Hardcastle.

When asked about some of the big wins the team has had over the past few months, Hardcastle responded "Our program is dedicated to teaching at a very high level. Wins are great but not our main emphasis." The emphasis on teaching has nonetheless led to some very impressive recent wins, including a 2nd places showing in the recent Super NIT and a tournament championship win last weekend over USSSA Elite World Series bound CA Sting Outlaws.

Club All-Star Blue boasts a deep pitching staff, anchored by Patrick Mulry and Connor Torres. Catcher Kyle Cortopassi has burst on the scene as one of the top 13u catchers in the region; one area coach told us "that kid (Cortopassi) is a real defensive stopper."  Coach Hardcastle takes pride in the defense his team plays: "Defensively, Torres (SS), Austin Wieck (2b) and Dylan Casey (3b) can play with anyone in the country."

Club All-Star has qualified for the Triple Crown World Series, but plans to play in the Elite World Series if the opportunity arises.
