Team seeding is determined by win record and fewest runs allowed. Clearly, any of these seeded teams are favored to– not only be competing in the “sweet 16” on Thursday, but also to win it all.
However, if one considers the power factor of total runs scored and runs allowed, TEAM TBS and The Boys of Baseball Nationals continue to impress. TEAM TBS has outscored their opponents 127-10. The BB Nationals have out scored their opponents 119-8 in their six pool games. These teams are a nightmare for pitchers as each can place a power hitter from top to bottom of their batting orders. So, clearly – these two teams deserve their high seeding. Each have played to a level that warrants consideration as one of the top 5 teams favored to win it all.
TEAM TBS continues to over power their opponents with offense, pitching, and defense. Their offense ranks number 1 in this event thus far. TEAM TBS has scored 127 runs while allowing only 10. This is impressive considering that four of these runs came against an exceptionally good TEAM Anderson team – who is a real threat to any opposing team. Another fact about this team is that every player on their roster is a power hitter. In pool play, a total of 11 players have hit home runs, while 6 have 3 or more HR's, and 9 have 2 or more in just six games.
The Sleeper teams to watch are; TEAM Akadema Bulldogs and TEAM Anderson.
In their last four games, TEAM Akadema has been generating a lot of runs while playing excellent defense and shutting down opponents. In pool play today, they shut out the Long Island Cougars 12-0 and slammed the Southern Tier Titans 20-3. This team is playing like they came here to win it all.
In addition, look for TEAM Anderson to be a sleeper. After losing an early game to TEAM TBS, a team that has demonstrated an over-powering offense, TEAM Anderson has played exceptional baseball. They have outscored their opponents 65-3, in their last five games, shutting down their opponents offenses. TEAM Anderson carries a winning tradition. This could be the sleeper team as they are far better than the 18 seeding that they currently hold.
