12U NYBC Preview: An Inaugural Event

August 20, 2008: Cordova, Tennessee

Get ready for this inaugural event, as eight 12U teams from five states will compete for the, first ever, NYBC National Championship.

The matchups are set for the inaugural (NYBC) National Youth Baseball Championship tournament for 12U teams. This event marks a first of its kind tournament. It will take place August 21-24 at Gameday Baseball's First Tennessee Sports Complex in Cordova, Tennessee - which is located on the outskirts of Memphis.

These National Youth Baseball Championships are the initial effort of the Major Youth Baseball Alliance, LLC (MYBA). MYBA is a newly formed company comprised of eight major youth organizations, including AABC (American Amateur Baseball Congress), AAU (Amateur Athletic Union of the United States), Babe Ruth Baseball, Dixie Youth Baseball, NABF (National Amateur Baseball Federation), PONY Baseball, Super Series Baseball of America, and USSSA (United States Specialty Sports Association). This years championship brackets are limited to 10U and 12U age groups – though future plans call for this venue to be expanded to as many as 8 age groups. These two age groups represent the champions that have reached the top of more than 100,000 teams located across America.

This year’s list of eight of the best 12U teams will travel from five states. They are each representatives of one of the eight participating league organizations. Included in this list is the Norwalk Stingrays, a team that is coming into this event ranked by TravelBallSelect as the #1 team in the nation. The Stingrays are bringing a lot of momentum as they have just won the USSSA Elite 24 World Series at Disney, Orlando - beating an outstanding Banditos Black team from Houston Texas. In addition, the Germantown Giants have proven that they can win in multiple venues. While they come into this event ranked #20 nationally, they have some very potent wins - taking the Super-Series Championship from the SC Spartans of Laguna Nigel, Californai. Another big plus for the Giants is that Memphis is home to them. So, one can expect them to be a strong force with a chance to win it all.

On Sunday, August 24th. The winner of this tournament will be crowned as the 2008 NYBC National Champions.
