12U NATC Preview - Cooperstown Dreams Park: Teams to Watch Print E-mail
August 21, 2008: Cooperstown, New York2008 NATC week is filled with many very good teams.  TravelBallSelect.com previews just a few of the teams to watch as this tournament gets under way on Sunday, August 23rd.

This years NATC week features a powerful line-up of ninety-eight teams from across America.  While this line-up of teams will no doubt feature some powerful teams that fall outside the ability to track, there are at least 6 teams that TravelBallSelect.com can confidently identify as “Teams to Watch”.  Clearly, these teams can challenge for this year’s NATC Championship.  Following is a short list of “Teams to Watch”:

Long Beach Dirt Bags – while this team is currently ranked at #25 nationally, by TravelBallSelect.com, they have been ranked as high as #10 nationally, over the course of the 2008 season.  The LB Dirtbags were the 2007 Elite 24 11U National Champions who plays week in and week out in the very talented Southern California area. The Dirtbags started the 08 season as a very highly ranked team. Although the Dirtbags had a 08 Elite birth in hand at the beginning of the 08 season they opted to play in the Dreams Park NATC week instead. Don’t take this team lightly because they will come to Cooperstown with a team that will have all of the tools to claim the big trophy on Thursday night.

Team Anderson – this is one of the elite programs in Florida that has proven their competiveness on a national level.  While they come into Cooperstown ranked #17 nationally by TravelBallSelect.com, this team can win.
Charles Chatman’s organization is as well coached and respected as you will find in travel baseball.  Although this team keeps the game simple, these kids play the game with heart and passion.  After what may have been a disappointing Orlando tournament for this team look for these kids to make a serious run at the Cooperstown NATC championship.  Team Anderson’s 12U team finished runner-up in 2007 at the NATC championship and won the NATC championship in 2006 at Cooperstown Dreams Park.

Long Beach Nomads – this is a team that has beaten some very good teams over the course of the 2008 year – including TEAM Anderson and the SC Spartans Gold.  You can expect that they will come to Cooperstown with all their athletes well prepared, coupled with some new athletes to reinforce their key strengths.  Look past this team, and it could be costly.

Boys of Baseball (Alabama) - this is an organization that has won the NATC Championship in prior years (2005).  This organization always fields a talented group of athletes that are not only drawn from great players from the southeast, but often across the country.  They will come to NATC week fresh off an intense warm-up week of play in the Dreams Park week 11 line-up.  You can be sure that this team will be ready to compete every time to come to the field.

Broward Red Dogs (Florida) – this team comes from one of the top 3 most prolific baseball states in the USA.  They have beaten some good teams this year that include; Miami Titans, Dreams Park week 4 runner up – the Miramar Canes, and week 3 champions, the South Florida Tsunami.  So be ready for a big time game when you match up with these athletes.

The Encinitas Reds is another of the many very good teams from California, a state loaded with talent.  While they may have played fewer games this year, they will come to Cooperstown with their most talented team of the year.  You can expect them to challenge right down to the last at bat.

TravelBallSelect.com will be covering NATC week from day one through championship day.  Stayed tuned for more to come . . . .
