12U Elite 24 Update: SV Bulldogs vs Banditos
August 5, 2008 Disney Wide World of Sports arena, Kissimmee, Florida
USSSA Elite 24 World Series

[CA] SV Bulldogs 9 - [TX] Houston Banditos 9 - Tie
Day two of the 12U USSSA Elite 24 Pool play had some very good matchups. One very exciting game played today featured two TravelBallSelect ranked teams - The Honorable Mentioned Houston Banditos against the #22 ranked SV Bulldogs of San Jose, California - a team that simply kept fighting back to bring this game to a draw.

The Banditos appeared to have this game under control with powerful hitting from Terry McClure, who contributed two key doubles.  The power
hitting Banditos had built a 4 run lead.  But the Bulldogs had other ideas and rallied from a 7-4 deficit to go ahead 9-7 in the top of the
6th.  This rally was powered by key doubles from Tanner Disibo along with timely singles from Mitch Hickey, Matt Blumquist, and Kyle Marinconz.

The Banditos had one last chance to pull this one out when they came to bat in the bottom of the 6th. They started their comeback with a lead off single from Mathew Yzquierdo.  This was followed by singles from Zeke Bear and Chris Suarez.  As the game moved to its critical point, the Banditos had the bases loaded with 2 outs when Marlon Ramirez stepped to the plate and hit a 2xRBI double that tied the game.  The Banditos were now in position to take the lead with a runner on third, and an excellent hitter, David Carranza coming to bat. But before Carranza could finish his bat, the Bulldogs defense came through by turning a potential disaster into victory.  A passed ball sent Chris Suarez running to steal home.  The Bulldogs hustled and recovered to throw Suarez out as he slid to home plate. This stalled the Banditos rally with the score tied at 9-all.  What a game - though bittersweet for both teams, it was a spectators delight - this is why they call it the Perfect Game!

The Banditos will now move into double elimination bracket play with a 1-0-1 record, while the SV Bulldogs finish pool play with an 0-1-1 record.
