The Arizona based Super Series baseball association headed east to Memphis Tennessee for this weeks 12U Super Series Summer National Championship. This year’s 12U National tournament has drawn good teams from CA, OK, TX, NE, AR, MS and TN. The event started on Saturday July 12th, 2008 with openings ceremonies. Afterwards all teams had the opportunity to relax and enjoy the professional AAA Memphis Redbirds play some minor league baseball against the Omaha Royals at AutoZone Park in Memphis on Saturday evening. Pool play started on Sunday and when the dust had settled it was the Memphis Tigers leading the way at 2-0. The Tigers allowed no runs during these two pool play victories. The Memphis Tigers organization is a history deep organization that has developed many players in the Memphis youth baseball area. There were three other teams that were 2-0 after Sunday’s pool play, the Tulsa Hurricanes, the TBS #3 ranked Terminators and the TBS "Honorable Mention" SC Spartans from California. Pool play will complete on Monday and bracket play will begin on Tuesday morning with the championship game being played on Thursday afternoon. The members of the newly crowned 12U Super Series National Championship team will receive the tournament trophy, championship watches and national champions' caps and uniform patches. After the championship game on Thursday, thirty players will be selected based on their performance during this event to participation in a true All-Star game following the championship game. Super Series will award a tournament MVP and an All Tournament team for this tournament. This is an exciting week of baseball for the teams competing for the 12U Super Series title. TBS would like to congratulate all teams participating and wish all the best of luck.
