2008 12U Beaver Valley RED Print E-mail

12U Beaver Valley RED

The Beaver Valley Baseball Club is extremely excited about fielding their 12U RED team in 2008.  Beaver Valley Baseball, an elite national travel program located in Western Pennsylvania, is in its 13th season of existence.  In that time period the organization has won four Cooperstown Dreams Park Championships (2001, 2002, 2003 and 2007) and one National Championship (USSSA’s first Elite World Series - 13U Champions in 2004).  This year’s team has the talent to reach the lofty heights of their predecessors.  Coached by club founder and president, Brian Smith, this team has been working very hard since the start of the New Year in their three day a week winter training program.

This team is extremely talented in all areas of the game, but will hang their hat on great power pitching and big time power hitting.  Great depth in each position will give this team endless combinations to keep a very strong and athletic defense on the field.  BV RED will be unable to play until the last weekend of March because of being a northern program, this team will use the idea of internal competition to drive their players to work hard in their off-season workouts.  The fantastic athletes that make up the 2008 BV RED team are:  Zachary Bahm, Cody Bain, Josh Bartley, Carrington Bell, David Boehme, Jake Emge, DJ Gati, Matt Gordon, Ty Greer, David Lyons, Phil Madonna, Brendan McKay and Brandon Nania.  That gives this team a total of 13 players that will be watched over by four of the best assistant coaches in Bryan Greer, Barry Emge, Frank Madonna and Bruce McKay.

After a great 2007 summer, which included two Super NIT Championships (Allentown and Sterling Heights), a 40 game winning streak and a 4-2 record in the Elite 24 in Disney, this team has it’s sights set on a bigger and better finish.  The team will participate in many weekend tournaments including two Super NITs (Charlotte, NC and Sterling Heights, MI).  BV will also play weekend tournaments in Lexington, SC (USSSA); Richmond, VA (Quest for the Best); Huron, OH; Akron, OH (USSSA); Canfield, OH (USSSA); Youngstown, OH (Triple Crown Sports); Rehoboth Beach, DE; Morgantown, WV (Triple Crown Sports); Detroit, MI (MSA Showcase Tournament); Aberdeen, MD (Ripken).  All these weekend tournaments will culminate in the two biggest 12U stages in the country:  Cooperstown Dreams Park and Disney for the USSSA Elite 24.  The first of these stages the team is definitely attending while the 2nd they hope to qualify to play.  BV RED will obviously play a very difficult and busy schedule to better prepare them for the tough finishing tournaments that lay ahead.  Coach Smith will see to it that this team works as hard as possible so they are ready to compete against that country’s top teams.

Travel Ball Select congratulates the 12U Beaver Valley RED team for a terrific 2007 season and is eagerly waiting to see how the team from Pennsylvania has improved.
