2008 12U West Michigan Wildcats

The 12U West Michigan Wildcats entered the 2008 season with very high expectations and a work ethic focused on reaching those expectations. Formed in 2006, the Wildcats came together when a couple of local coaches decided to join forces and head out into the world of travel baseball. The Wildcats broke onto the scene in 2008 after an impressive 2nd Place Finish at Michigan’s Super NIT held in Sterling Heights.

The Wildcats are built around solid pitching, a good defense and timely hitting. Team members all live within a 25 mile radius of the team is based in St. Joseph, Michigan. This team is unique because it holds no open tryouts and it does not recruit outside of its local area. The Wildcats focus on fundamental baseball and hard work to achieve success.

Although the goals for 2008 were high, qualifying for the Disney Elite 24 certainly raised the bar for this team. A tough loss to Team Anderson, (TBS #14), 12-7 in the finals of Michigan’s Super NIT proved this team can play at an Elite level when playing their best. Wildcat team members include David Watkins, Hunter Holzapfel, Jacob Trumbley, Matthew Peirce, Brett Scanlon, Mitchell Dehn, Tony Canonie, Charles Fleenor, Parker Hasse, Justin Salvano and Ryan Dorow. The Wildcats head to Disney with a 31-9 record on the season. This team has traveled continuously this season seeking out the best competition Michigan and Indiana have to offer and the Wildcats look forward to the Elite 24 challenge and playing against some of the best 12U teams in the country.
