2008 12U Houston Banditos (TX)

The 12U Houston Banditos team qualifies for the Elite 24 in Orlando FL in a hard fought battle against the Terminators from Mississippi. The TBS "Honorable Mention" Banditos shocked the TBS #5 ranked Terminators in a tough come from behind 3-2 win in the Governors Games Super NIT in Lake Charles, LA.

The Banditos have worked hard and continue to improve week after week. Robert DeLeon and his coaching staff get their players to see what they can become rather than what they are. If you look at their record for the spring, they are 14-23-2 in 39 games. You may be wondering how does a team with a .359 winning percentage (sub .500 record) get the opportunity to play in the Elite 24. The answer is bringing it together at the right time. A timely hit here and a play made there, they could be sitting at 24-15 for the season. The Banditos may not be the biggest, fastest or the strongest teams on the diamond however do not count them out as they are a major level team. The Banditos have beaten the following national power teams: TBS #1 ranked Banditos Black, TBS #6 ranked Texas Nationals and TBS #5 ranked Terminators.

The team consists of David Carranza, Inez Guerrero, Lance Moszkowicz, Freddy Price, Marlon Ramirez, Jacob Rodriguez, Christopher Suarez, Matthew Yzquierdo, and 3 league age eleven year olds Zeke Bear, Tyler Erb, and Sam McElreath. The Houston Banditos are under the direction of Robert DeLeon, Lance McElreath, and Eddie Carranza.

Travel Ball Select will continue to track the Banditos as they make a run at the Elite title in Orlando FL.
