The Charlotte Megastars Baseball Club was formed by Jeff McNeely in 2000 with two specific goals: winning programs at each age level and player development.  The 12u Charlotte Megastars were formed five years ago and the core group of players have remained as the center piece of the roster.  The 12u Charlotte Megastars team has played over 400-plus games together and has won over 20 tournaments since their conception in 2003.  This year’s 12u team is the most talented group of players McNeely’s program has assembled.  The two coaches are Anthony Greene and Bobby Arnold.  The coaches said “this year’s team has committed to put in extra hours to reach their established goal of qualifying and winning the Elite 24 World Series”.  The Megastars 12u team is extremely excited about the 2008 Spring/Summer Season.

2008 will prove to be an exciting year for the 12u Charlotte Megastars team.  This is a very talented group of players and with the new roster additions, the Megastars will compete on a national stage.  The Megastars will have excellent depth at all position.  The outfield, which includes Kayden Krause, Tommy DeJuneas, Nigel Hester, and Hunter Purser, is very fast and athletic.  The infield includes Wes Foskey, Foster Machicote, Jordan Greene, Chase Arnold, Kevin Woods, Andrew Leopprich, and Harris Yett.  Two newcomers will bolster the pitching rotation.  Pitcher Eric Tyler and Gage Parham, who are throwing in the upper 70s, will join the team once Middle School ball is over.  Gage played with a 14U team in the fall.  The team will rely on a strong pitching staff and relentless defense to compete in 2008.

The 2007 season included success at three Super NITs (Atlanta (GA), Charlotte (NC), and Kingsport (TN)), the Battle in the South Tournament, and a 9th place finish (3 – 3 record) at the prestigious Elite 24 World Series.  The 2008 Season has been successful too.  The 12u Megastars had their best Fall Season ever.  In addition, the first tournament of the Spring Season has not been a disappointment with the Megastars winning all of their games (4 - 0) and scoring 49-runs and not giving up a run.  The players want to play in the big events and have scheduled four Super NITs in 2008 (Atlanta (GA), Charlotte (NC), Kingsport (TN), and Chicago (IL)), the Battle in the South, Cooperstown Dreams Park, and local venues.  This team is all about playing the best competition.  They realize they have to play in the biggest tournaments if they want to reach their goals.
