2008 12U Team Rawlings Print E-mail

12u_teamrawlings_fl.jpg Team Rawlings 12U travel baseball team, led by Head Coach and Manager Ron Howe, and is experiencing significant success with a group of talented young baseball players. Team Rawlings 12u is currently ranked 3rd in the Travel Ball Select National Pre-season Rankings for 12u teams and 2nd in the state of Florida in the USSSA Baseball league. Ron has been coaching some of these boys for years since they were a 9U team and was originally the Lakeland Renegades until a sponsorship from Rawlings led to the name change to Team Rawlings last year.

The team is well-rounded in all aspects of the game but probably has its greatest strength in a wealth of pitching, followed by strong defense from a team that makes minimal errors. Team Rawlings consist of Troy Howe, Marcus Stump, Brooks Wilson, EJ Cordero, Reed Roberts, Logan Browning, Drew Carlton, Willies Estrada, Joey Starling...This season they add Brandon (Boo) Leohner, Jerod Hudson, Seddon Henry and Jordan Pike..Giving the team 13 solid players and 3 of the finest assistant coaches with Dan Stump, Mike Wilson, and Eric Cordero . Team Rawlings have reach some lofty goals and are aiming for more to come … Team Rawlings recently won three straight tournaments including the USSSA Winter World Series championship, the Triple Crown Thanksgiving Spectacular tournament (for the 2nd year in a row), and the USSSA MLK Memorial Day Classic. They also finished 3rd in the 2007 Elite 24 World Series competing with teams from all around the U.S., and were the 2007 Summer Nationals champions for AAU Baseball. The team has its eyes set on Cooperstown this summer and will play a full spring season of tournaments to get ready for the 96-team tournament in July in New York. Their hopes are set on a championship in Cooperstown and then will head back to the 2008 Elite 24 World Series again this August. These young players will be very busy staying on top of their game until then. Travel Ball Select wishes Team Rawlings much success in 2008 and beyond .
