11U Elite 24 Results: West Chester Sluggers win 2 straight over the CHIEFS

[OH] West Chester Sluggers 16 –- [GA] CHIEF 9

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Sluggers from West Chester, Ohio, facing elimination, beat the Chiefs of Calhoun, Georgia two straight games today, to advance to the quarter finals of the 11U USSSA Elite 24 World Series. The CHIEFS came out fighting and took an early 1-0 lead after one full inning and continued to build that lead to a score of 8-5 at the end of the 3rd. This was due in part to DJ Neal’s 2xRBI home run for the CHIEF.

But, the Sluggers mounted a rally in the 4th inning, starting with a Grand Slam Home run by Jermiah Johnson. From this booming homer, the Sluggers built a 9-7 lead after the 4 four, taking the momentum. From this point, they never looked back as they kept expanding their lead adding 3 more runs in the 5th, along with 4 more runs in the top of the 6th and final inning, while allowing the CHIEFS only one more run.

The effort was a top to bottom team win. A few of the key hits came from: Justin Arnold, Jermiah Johnson, Justin Hilliard, Dallas Hall, and Haden Senger.

The West Chester Sluggers will face the Mudhens of McComb, Michigan tomorrow morning (Friday, August 9th). The time for the opening pitch has not yet been announced.
