11U Elite 24 Update: CHIEFS - West Chester Sluggers Print E-mail

August 7, 2008 Disney Wide World of Sports arena, Kissimmee, Florida USSSA Elite 24 World Series 11U

[GA] CHIEFS 15 –- West Chester Sluggers 7

The Calhoun, Georgia CHIEFS beat the Sluggers from West Chester, Ohio by a score of 15-7 in the USSSA 11U Elite 24 World Series play here in Disney Wide World of Sports complex today.

The CHIEFS jumped up to a 6-0 lead after the bottom of the 1st inning and never looked back.  The Sluggers mounted a comeback by adding 2 runs in the 2nd, but the CHIEFS quickly countered with four more runs in the forth, then closing the game out with a 2xRBI walk off home run by Jake Rogers in the bottom of the 5th.  This was Rogers 2nd home run of the day as he had previously hit a lead off solo home run in the bottom of the 4th inning.

The CHIEFS benefit from excellent hitting from their entire line-up.  Slade Dale, Jalen Miller, Mat Mullinax had doubles.  Dexter Neal turned in an excellent performance on the mound going the distance for the CHIEFS.

Key hits for the sluggers in the 3rd and 4th innings were delivered by a single from Andrew Bitter to get things started.  Then Tyler Duval hit a key double to load the bases in the 4th inning, and Justin Arnold hit a 2xRBI base hit to put runs on the board for the Sluggers.  In the top of the 5th inning, Brandon William hit a double, followed by single by Hayden Singer, and an RBI by Justin Hilliard.

The CHIEFS will now await the outcome of the results from the elimination bracket to determine their next opponent.  Their next game is scheduled for 10am Friday morning.
