11U Elite 24 Results: TABU - Texas Rattlers Print E-mail

August 7, 2008 Disney Wide World of Sports arena, Kissimmee, Florida USSSA Elite 24 World Series 11U

[CA] TABU 7 –- Texas Rattlers 3

Team TABU continues to show why they are #2 ranked nationally by TravelBallSelect by beating a very good Texas Rattlers team 7-3 here today.  The Rattlers came into this tournament ranked #8 nationally.

The TABU opened the 1st inning by taking a 1-0, then added 4 more runs in the 2nd inning, and continued to build their lead by adding two more runs in the 4th.   The Rattlers powerful offense was held at bay by the pitching of Bryce Dyrda and Kaden Verdin.

TABU offense got excellent play from its entire line-up.  Coby Lehman went 2 for 3 with 2xRBI’s.  Cameron Smith added a 2xRBI Home Run.  Bailey Gaither hit a double, and Cal Stevenson contributed a 2xRBI double.

Hunter Lynn hit a 2xRBI double for the Rattlers in the bottom of the 5th, and Luken Baker also singled down the middle to continue rally, but the strong pitching of Kaden Verdin, who had come in to close for the TABU, cut this rally short.

The Rattlers kept fighting back, and would not quit.  In the bottom of the 6th, they had runners on 2nd and 3rd after Ted Hoffman hit a single that moved James Kuykendall to 2nd.  But TABU pitcher Kaden Verdin’s quick hands grabbed a screaming line drive, then alertly turned a quick double play at 2nd to end the game in dramatic fashion.

The TABU will get a break and will play at 8am Friday.  The Rattlers will move down into the elimination bracket to face the winner of the Palmetto Flames/Simi Predators game that will be played at 2:30pm today.
