Houston Lighting 9 – New Orleans Monarch 5
Play for 11U teams moved into double elimination Bracket match-ups today. The 8am early bird games matched the Houston Lightning against the New Orleans Monarch
.  The Lighting opened the game with two 1st inning runs that was driven by the hitting of Cade Edwards and Rainer Ausmus.  But, the Monarchs answered back in the bottom of the 1st to tie the game with hits provided by Kyler Johnson and Blaise Brown.  Both teams were held scoreless in the 2nd.

But in the top the 3rd, the Lightning added 3 runs to go up 5-2 lead.  The Monarch’s could only respond with 1 run in the bottom of the 2nd.  From that point, the Lightning were in complete control adding 3 more runs in the 4th and one more in the top of the 5th to move into the bottom of the 6th holding a commanding 9-3 lead. But, the Monarchs were not ready to quit, they quickly scored two runs driven by the hitting of Myles Campbell and Quindon Haisley to tighten to score to 9-5 with eager runners holding on 1st and 3rd.  At that point, Drew Van Norman came to the mound for the Lightning and shut down the Monarch offense to save the win.

The Houston Lightning will move on to face the Houston Angels, who had earned a first round bye.  The opening pitch of this game is scheduled be tossed at 8am Wednesday.
