11U Update - Super Series Central Championships, Arkansas rivals set for another duel Print E-mail

By DEVIN HASSON
Teams from the state of Arkansas made themselves feel right at home in Texas on Wednesday and Thursday during bracket play of the 11U Super Series Central Championships at The Ballfields at Craig Ranch in McKinney.

In the 11U National Division, the Fort Smith Outlaws, ranked 18th in the travelballselect.com top 25, followed up their three wins in pool play with three more during the start of bracket play.
While the Outlaws picked up victories over Team Texas and the Dallas Patriots, the biggest win came with Thursday’s 7-4 decision against the Texas Crush, who received honorable mention recognition in the latest travelballselect.com poll.
On the other side of the bracket, the Outlaws will see a familiar face in cross-state rival D.Q. Busters, another honorable mention on the top 25 list. The D.Q. Busters knocked off the tournament’s top seed, the Omaha Pacesetters, with a 14-9 victory to join the Outlaws as the only two undefeated teams left in the bracket.
Things just got worse for the Pacesetters, who saw their tournament come to an end later in the afternoon in a 4-3 loss to the Cinderella story, the Southlake Green Dragons.
Southlake posted a 1-2 record during pool play and entered the bracket round as the 13th seed. After a narrow 3-2 loss to the D.Q. Busters in the first round, the Green Dragons caught fire, staying alive with wins over the L.A. Game Thunder, Dallas Patriots and McKinney Marshals, all which came by seven runs or more.
They ran their winning streak to four in a row with the win over Omaha to remain as one of four teams left in the draw.
On the other side of the bracket, the Green Dragons will find another unlikely foe in the Rip City Angels, who were seeded eighth.
Rip City fell into the consolation bracket with a second-round loss to Omaha, but rebounded with wins over the Texas Sliders and Voodoo Baseball, another honorable mention selection in the travelballselect.com poll.
The Angels then picked up their biggest win to date by knocking off No. 3 seed Texas Crush, 7-3, to move on to face Southlake.
