11U Update - AAU Nationals Print E-mail

Thursday July 23rd - The 2nd round of bracket play at Florida’s Disney Wide World of Sports complex was completed earlier today.

The game of the day was a close game featuring two nationally ranked teams - The Florida Fire and the East Cobb Astros. This game had extra interest since it placed the Florida Fire (ranked #3 nationally by TBS) against the East Cobb Astros (ranked #7 nationally).  This game lived up to expectations by being a close game.  However, the #7 ranked Astros won this game 3-2 (more specific details to follow on this game).  The Astros will move on to face the Meteors (FL) in the 3rd round later today at 12 noon.  The Meteors (FL) earned their right to face the Astros by virtue of their impressive 11-1 win over the Hawaii Warriors.

In other 2nd round bracket play, The Virginia Storm edged past the Mill Creek Hawks 4-3, while the Home Plate Chili Dogs fell to the CFL Diamond Reds by a score of 10-4.  The Reds will face off against the Virginia Storm at noon today.

In addition, The Meteors will now face the East Cobb Astros.  For more details on 3rd round bracket play, see:
