1. (2) East Cobb Astros (GA) – 47-7-1 record in the 2008 season (loses while playing up). This team won the Tournament of Champions defeating six top ranked teams including Florida Fire and TABU (CA). 2. (7) Texas Prospects Americans (TX) – The Texas Americans have reeled off 42 straight wins. The Houston boys recently defeated last years Elite 24 Champions and TBS number one ranked team, TEAM Rattlers, for 2nd time in season. This team qualified for Elite World Series at Oklahoma Super NIT defeating Houston Lightning, Inside KC Sports and Ft. Smith Outlaws – all ranked teams.3. (4) TABU (CA) – The winners of two Super NITs (SoCal - MLK USSSA Super NIT Champions and NorCal - Presidents Day USSSA Super NIT Champions) has compiled an impressive overall record of 76-17 and 11 Championships: 12u Record = 49-14, 7 Tournament Championships; 11u Record = 30-5, 4 Tournament Championships. Recently, TABU traveled across the country and finished 2nd at Tournament of Champions behind EC Astros. They defeated the likes of Florida Fire, Chiefs Baseball (twice), VA Storm and Viper Baseball Academy (AL) while losing once to the Astros and Fire. 4. (3) Florida Fire (FL) – Avoided a slip-up at the Tournament of Champions against the Chilidogs (GA) before out slugging TABU. Then they lost a close one run game against the Astros before being eliminated by TABU. They won an Elite World Series berth at Florida Super NIT. Won the 12U AAA Florida State Championship; run-ruled a very competitive field at BITS to take the top honors before rain halted play. 5. (1) TEAM Rattlers (TX) – The 2007 Elite 24 World Series champs mostly play up against 12U Majors and have little trouble against 11’s but recently has shown signs of being vulnerable to the likes of the T.P. Americans and Houston Lightning. Team has power galore and a strong pitching staff. 6. (7) Chiefs Baseball (GA) – In the tournament of Champions, they fell twice to the third ranked TABU team while beating four worthy and ranked opponents: North Florida Hurricanes, Bullets Gold (FL), Greensboro Tarheels (NC) and Shoetiques (TN). 7. (8) Lamorinda Baseball (CA) – Winning against 12U competition, the Cougars sport a 25-8-1 record against the older boys and a 28-1 record against teams their age and a total of seven championships. One championship, the Thanksgiving Day Super NIT, qualified them for the Elite World Series later this year. But before then, the boys from CA will face off against some of the best in the State USSSA Tournament. 8. (9) Houston Lightning (TX) – The Lightning has the ability to beat the top 10 teams, including 2 wins over sixth ranked T.P. Americans last fall and undefeated against fifth ranked Houston Angels this spring. In ’08 they have beaten their ranked counterparts in Houston only to let their guard down and lose to weaker teams. They finished second at the OK Super NIT before winning the Colorado Super NIT by outscoring the competition 68-3 in six games including 1-0 win against top ranked Inside KC Sports Blues. Finished third at big Memorial Day tourney in Houston losing only to TEAM Rattlers, but then followed up the following week losing to an inferior opponent twice. 9. (14) Simi Predators (CA) – The Simi Predators play in the 12U Bronco division (Pony League) and have not played a tournament since March. Predators have a history of showing up for the big events and doing well. Team has improved their record to 28-8-1 while playing up against 12U competition in 4 of their 8 tournaments (winning the last one). Their four 11U tournaments rank as some of the hardest. They are the only team to have played in three SNITs and another National event (Super Series Winter). They qualified for the Elite World Series with a second place finish at the Presidents Day Super NIT. This is after winning the Super Series Winter Nationals (as Inside Pitch Elite). Former USSSA National Champion is expected to do well at Disney. 10. (5) Houston Angels (TX) – 2007 Elite 24 Runner up has already qualified for the Elite World Series by winning the Carolina SNIT. The team obtained power hitting from former World Series Champions American Avengers which has helped them obtain a strong USSSA power ranking and 28-6 record and 5 championships. Angels suffered two bad losses recently in Houston Memorial Day tournament. 11. (13) Chino Hills Storm (CA) – The Chino Hills Storm improved its record to 48-11 by winning the USSSA Major 11u Bat War Tournament Cinco De Mayo Weekend. The Storm went 5-0 and beat the Walnut Rebels in the final game 9-1. It is the 6th Tournament win of the season for the Storm. The team is led by Andrew Matus who improved his pitching record to 15-0 this season. Andrew gets offensive support from Justin Bardwell (.428), James Garcia (.390) and Cory Shorts (.390). 12. (20) Inside Sport KC Blues (KS) – The Blues have compiled a 29-5 record (2 loses against 12U teams) and have challenged themselves by competing in three Super NITs. Not their best showing at Oklahoma Super NIT but the team went "baseball-up" (an expression by TBS - similar to that of "cowboy up") to rebound into the championship of the Colorado Super NIT (1-0 lose to #8 Lightning). Then they went undefeated in winning the KS SNIT. 13. (10) Virginia Storm (VA) – 3-3 record at the Tournament of Champions drops this team down after they went 4-0 record at the Battle in the South to make it to the Semi-Finals. This is one of the best teams from the strong Atlantic Coast area.
14. (15) Carolina Angels (NC) – Have reeled off a 30-4 record since their first tournament last fall (0-3 start against 12U). Two of their 4 loses were to the seventh ranked Chiefs. Impressive outing against 12U AAA teams (winning it all) shows the Angels are improving as they conquered the teams that beat them in that first tournament. 15. (16) Ft. Smith Outlaws (AR) – The Outlaws make the biggest jump with their impressive showing at the OK Super NIT where the beat the OK Jammers, Houston Lightning (#9) and Inside Sport KC Blues (#20) before falling to the Americans (#6). Record improves to 20-6 in spite of tougher schedule. 16. (HM) RBA Seahawks (TX) – Strong showing in Houston Memorial Day tournament losing only to TP Americans twice by identical 6-4 scores. Team followed that up by winning Governor’s games in Louisiana to gain Elite 24 berth. 17. (HM) Beaumont Gladiators (TX) – Overall a balanced team, good hitting, pitching and defense. Glads obtained an Elite 24 berth in Kansas City Super NIT losing to Inside KC Sports in final. This south Texas team continues to improve as this team seeks out the competition. They finished 2nd at Governor’s Games (SNIT) in Louisiana losing to RBA Seahawks in the finals. 18. (NR) West Chester Baseball Club (OH) – This Ohio team has 28 wins in thirty games. And one of those loses was to the number one ranked Astros (2-1 record in B.I.T.S. tournament before rains came). They also will make it to Disney after winning the Michigan SNIT. 19. (17) Macomb Mudhens (MI) – Second place finish at Michigan SNIT has the Mudhens returning to the Elite World Series. They chose a tough first tournament in the SNIT Shootout in Atlanta where they went 2-2. Both loses were to ranked teams and only by one run. 20. (18) Region Redbirds (IN) – Finished last year with an 83-13 record. Redbirds overall record in 2008 is 30-2. The team is traveling to surrounding states to find the best competition. However, they missed an opportunity to play in the Battle in the South. They played up in their first tournament taking the championship. They are playing in a Michigan Elite Classic hosted by Michigan Sports Academy consisting of 24 elite teams. They also will play in the Cincy Flames Classic in July which has 48 teams from 12 states. To end the season we will participate in the 2008 AAU W.S. in Orlando. Successful performances in these national events will elevate their standings. 21. (21) SoCal Mavericks (CA) – Qualified for the 2008 Elite World Series by winning the 2007 West World Series. Mavericks finished third at the SoCal Memorial Day Triple Crown tournament. 22. (11) San Diego Stars (CA) – Recent losses in SoCal Triple Crown Tourney resulted in drop in ranking. 23. (19) Palmetto Flames (SC) – Vaulted into the Top 25 by staking claim to the Atlanta SNIT "Shootout Tournament" by knocking off the powerful Chiefs team twice. They continue to improve on their record, 53-17, after stubbing their toe in Charlotte. Flames got the best of the Megastars in their last tournament championship. Went 1-3 in their recent 12 AAA tournament. 24. (23) Alabama Naturals (AL) – Have quietly compiled a 51-12 record and a championship win in the Alabama Super NIT. Team went 2-4 in last tournament while challenging the boys in a 12U tournament (six loses to 12U teams in total). 25. (NR) – Central Florida Diamondbacks – Finished second at the FL SNIT. Have wins against Florida Fire (Fire was short handed), Bullets Gold, North Florida Hurricanes, 25. (NR) - Mississippi Royals (MS) – The Royals have a 34-10 USSSA record, a third place finish at the AL SNIT and a 6-3 record against 12U teams. Last year’s Super Series National Champs finally had some big wins at the Tournament of Champions by outscoring North Florida Hurricanes, ECB Titans, and VA Storm. They lost to the eventual champs, ECB Astros, in a close one (7-6) and Runner-up, TABU.
