2008 11U Bullets Blue (FL) Print E-mail

The accomplishments of the Tampa based Bullets Blue 11U has caught the attention of Travel Ball Select and made them truly an up and coming team to watch! For the past two (2) seasons, the Bullets Blue team has been managed by Jeff Turner, formerly the manager of the East Cobb Astros, where he led the Astros to a National Championship in 2006. Although these Bullets Blue players have only been together for a short time, in the past year, the team has worked extraordinarily hard to compete on a national level.

Most recently, the Bullets Blue traveled to East Cobb to make a run at the Tournament of Champions, where they won against the TBS nationally ranked Vipers Baseball Academy, honorable mentioned, Cincy Flames, and the Alpharetta A’s. This scrappy Bullets Blue team plays with a lot of heart, but after six games was finally eliminated from the TOC by one run in the bottom of the 6th during a nail biter game against the East Cobb Titans.

In their home state of Florida, the up and coming Bullets Blue 11U is definitely developing a Tradition of Excellence! In 2008, the team earned top honors as the AAU Slug-A-Rama Champion and the AAU State Championship Runners Up. And, in 2007, Bullets Blue was the USSSA Fall Turkey Classic Champion, AAU Presidents’ Day Champion, AAU Renegade Rumble Runners Up, AAU National Championship Runners Up, IBC Beach Classic Runners Up, Triple Crown Spring Fling Runners Up, and USSSA April Fools Day Runners Up.

The Bullets Blue outfield has speed and strength, as consistently demonstrated by the plays made by Garret Wright, Jacob Goodall, Scotty Turner, Drew Bradley and Tyler Bakich. The middle infield is locked down tight by the swift and sure handed Jeff Murray and Cesar Caro. The defense is anchored by hard nosed catcher Sean Osteen and, on the rare occasion that Sean takes a rest, he knows he can rely on Nicholas Lycett or Tommy McLaughlin to step in and catch for him. The infield corners and pitching staff feature hard throwing Tommy McLaughlin, Nicholas Lycett, Tanner Perkins, and Tyler Bakich as well as three south paws, Ben Carson, Drew Bradley and Jacob Goodall.

All batters of this hard hitting team find the gaps, the alleys and have the discipline to work opposing pitchers. In the spirit of continuing to develop a Tradition of Excellence, Bullets Blue 11U steps onto the field expecting to win every game and is looking forward to the remaining tournaments of the season. Bullets Blue will be capping off the season with the Triple Crown Summer Slam, IBC Battle of the Bay, which lead up to the AAU National Championship at Disney. Keep the Bullets Blue 11U on your radar for the rest of the 2008 and into the 2009 season!
