2008 11U Chiefs Baseball (GA) Print E-mail

chiefs-2008f.jpgChief’s baseball returns for the 2008 baseball season stronger, faster, deeper and better than ever.   The Chiefs return seven starters from the undefeated 2007 Cooperstown 10U Championship team (12 and 0) as well as three new additions from the Elite 24 participant DeKalb Barons.  The Chiefs completed the 2007 season with an overall record of 80 wins and 6 losses and won 10 tournaments.  As a result, the Chiefs are well respected as an athletic team that has “upside”.  Travel Ball Select agrees and thus had them ranked second in the preseason rankings.

The Chiefs will be led by their new manager Charlie Culberson.  Charlie brings years of baseball experience having been drafted by the San Francisco Giants as well as having his son Charlie Culberson Jr. being selected in the 2007 1st round by the San Francisco Giants.

The Chiefs bolster a balanced line up, a pitching staff that is 10 deep and a defense that is two deep at each position.  The Chiefs began testing their skills by playing in two 12 and under tournaments, winning one and finishing in the top six in the other.  This team from Georgia will be competing in both 11 and under and 12 and under tournaments in 2008.  The Chiefs are building on their success from 2007 by playing in tournaments like the Atlanta Super NIT (finished second in a Shootout event), the Battle in the South in Rockwood, TN (finished undefeated in a rain shortened tournament), the Tennessee Super NIT (won it all to qualify for the Elite World Series), the Travel Ball Select sponsored Elite Travel Classic (May 29- June 1) and concluding the season in Orlando, FL at the Elite World Series (August 3- August 10).
