10 U Super Series Regional Tournament - Saturday Results PDF Print E-mail

The top two teams in the 10-and-under division will likely meet twice on Sunday, Sept. 20 in the final game of pool play and the championship bout in the Super Series Regional Tournament at Big League Dreams in Manteca, CA.

Both the Lamorinda Diablos and Elk Grove Gunners were 2-0 after Saturday’s pool play, and will face each other in the final pool match-up at 10 a.m. Lightening Baseball of Visalia (0-2) and the South Bay Diamondbacks (0-2) play at noon, but have no shot at a No. 1 or 2 seed, leaving the Diablos and Gunners to face off for the tourney title at 2 p.m. as well.

The Diablos had the more impressive wins with a 19-2 decision over Lightening and a 13-4 route of South Bay. The Gunners beat Lightening 10-4 and the Diamondbacks 9-0.

“We pretty much dominated the 10-and-under division, but we will see what happens tomorrow,” Lamorinda coach Bruce McIver said. “Everybody on this team hit the heck out of the ball.”

Jake Cruce hit 6-for-7 with five RBIs and four runs on Saturday to lead the Diablos at the plate. Matt Turner recorded the sharpest pitching performance by throwing three no-hit innings with six strikeouts.
