- by Ernie Rapiere The game started as a close game after the top of the 2nd, but the Playmakers went to work and built a 2-0 lead in their 2nd at bat. The scoring started when Jullian Rivera doubled and Julio Galvez hit a RBI single with 2-outs to get things rolling. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, the Tamiami Playmakers awoke with a fiery, getting 17 straight batters to the plate to drive in 12 more runs. This offense was ignited by early inning walks by Brandon Jenoa and Alec Maneoa followed by a string of hits including RBI doubles from Mike Gonzalez, Julian Rivera, Danny Vaughn, and Eli Marrero (Marreo also hit a single in his second at bat later in the inning). Pitcher, Mike Gonzalez did the job for the Playmakers going 3 innings with 4 strikeouts, giving up only two hits with no runs allowed. Gonzalez also contributed to big hits including an RBI double. The Playmakers will move on to face the Tomateros de California in a huge game coming up on Friday evening. The two top teams from each bracket will move into the championship brackets on Saturday.
