by William Saunders LAKE BEUNA VISTA, Fla. – 8:00 AM Sunday-Semi-Final Pool B: TBS #11 Texas Nationals Team vs. TBS #19 Banditos Black. The two teams from Texas took different paths to get to the semi finals game. For the Nationals they went down to Lamorinda Monarchs (CA) on Monday in a slugfest 16-13 and on Tuesday they defeated the Tampa Crush (FL) 8-2. For the Banditos they defeated the Avengers III Red (TX) 8-0 and on Tuesday they took on Mac-N-Seitz Red Sox defeating them 13-5. On Wednesday at 5:00 the Nationals took on the Charlotte Megastars from South Carolina. The Nationals would win their first bracket game by a score of 10-2. For the Banditos they would earn a bye allowing them to take the day off on Wednesday. Thursday at 10:00 AM the Banditos would take on TBS #13 Central Florida Bobcats. This was a hard fought game for both teams. 9 year old Logan Allen pitched masterfully for 5 innings keeping the Banditos off balance. Tanner Frabbot, Brian Rey, Andre Walden and Mervyl Melendez each scored a run. In the bottom of the 6th the Bobcats would change pitchers. Dylan Kotsios got on base and Jake Urban would come up with the hit of the game allowing Dylan to score the game winning run. Banditos win 5-4. At 12:30 the Nationals would take on the Detroit Bee’s. The Nationals would win this contest by a score of 13-1. Friday at 10:00 the Banditos faced TBS #10 West Pines Nike Cobras. Jordan Monacy took the mound for the Banditos Black and gave head coach Roger Jarvis 6 strong innings. Banditos win 6-4. The Nationals also played at 10:00 facing another team from Texas, STIXX. That game also ended with a score of 6-4. Both teams would play at 10:00 AM on Saturday. On one field was the Banditos facing the Alabama Senators, the other field had the Texas Nationals Team vs. TBS #23 Mac-N-Seitz Indians. The Banditos sent Juan Gonzalez to the mound. Gonzalez did a great job going four innings and only giving up two runs. Gonzalez also got plenty of run support putting up thirteen runs against a quality Alabama Senators team. Banditos win in 4 innings 13-2. On the other field were the Nationals and Indians who were in the loser’s bracket. The Indians won this contest 3-2 knocking the Nationals into the losers bracket and forcing a rematch. The second time around it would be a different story. The Nationals bats came to life winning the game 13-9. 8:00 AM Sunday morning would pit two teams from Texas facing off for the right to face the Tomateros de California in the Championship game. TBS #11 Texas Nationals vs. TBS #19 Bandito’s Black. It was a close game until the Bandito’s brought in Ace Jordan Monecy. The Bandito’s go on to win 7-3 and will face the Tomateros at 11:00 AM
