1. (5) Tomateros de California (CA) – The Tomateros traveled cross country twice in two weeks to show everyone they are the best 10 year old team in the nation. After going 6-1 in the Elite 24 with wins against TBS #12 West Pines Nike Cobras, two wins against TBS #10 O.C. Black Sox, and a semi-final win against former TBS #1 and current #5 Oklahoma Elite the Tomateros fell to TBS #3 Banditos Black from Texas in a hard fought championship game. After the Banditos declined the berth to the Inaugural National Youth Baseball Championship the Tomateros jumped on the opportunity to represent USSSA in Memphis, TN. Boy did they represent, going 4-0 with victories over TBS #7 Miami Playmakers (Pony Champion) and TBS #11 Chet Lemon’s Juice (AAU Champion) The Tomateros had an incredible year playing in 10u and 11u tournaments. They have an impressive combination of power, size and speed. Not only did the Tomateros travel, they traveled far and to the biggest events to show everyone they are number one. 2. (6) Dallas Patriots (TX) – The Dallas Patriots Won the AABC Willie Mays South Plains Regional Tournament in Oklahoma, qualifying them for the Puerto Rico World Series! The tournament consisted of teams from Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. By winning the Regional, the Patriots represented the South Plains Region of the United States in Puerto Rico for the AABC World Series Title. Only eight teams earn the honor of playing for the AABC World Series Title, and no team has ever won the World Series from the South Plains Regions. The Patriots defeated the Puerto Rico National team in the championship game of the AABC World Series 4 to 1. This victory marks the first time a team has won the Willie Mays World Series from the South Plains Region in Puerto Rico. AABC was founded in 1935! The Dallas Patriots had impressive victories over New York, Puerto Rico, and Cantano on the way to the championship game. The Patriots finished the season with a 76 and 4 record, winning every tournament they played in with the exception of one, where they lost 2-1 in the championship game. 3. (19) Banditos Black (TX) – Banditos climb up to #3 after an incredible showing at the Elite 24. The boys from Texas went 7-0. In the five bracket games they defeated TBS #17 Central Florida Bobcats, #12 West Pines Nike Cobras, #15 Alabama Senators, #8 Texas Nationals Team and #1 Tomateros de California. The Elite 24 Championship trophy has been added to the other two USSSA World Series Championships (7u and 8u) and the 9u AAU National Championship making them 4 time World Series Champions. Enough Said!! 4. (3) Leon Medical Centers Baseball “LMC” (FL) – Unfortunately for LMC they were unable to get an at large bid to play in the Elite 24 and their season ended after their impressive run at Cooperstown in June. This is a highly talented team with two dominant pitchers who both throw around 70 mph. with great control at the front end of the rotation. Combine that with solid defensive and their potent lineup you get a team that you can expect to be in the championship game at any tournament they enter. 5. (1) Oklahoma Elite (OK) – The Elite had an incredible season. They played in four Super NIT’s, winning three, including traveling to Georgia and winning the Atlanta Super NIT. The other was a one run loss the TBS #2 Dallas Patriots in the Championship game. With a 3rd place finish in the Elite 24 losing to the Tomateros in the semi finals the Elite finish with three in class loses. Two loses to the Dallas Patriots and one to the Tomateros. 6. (2) Knoxville Stars (TN) – The Stars had another strong season winning two Super NIT’s as well as two 11u tournaments. One being the 11u USSSA - AAA State Championship. Unfortunately for the Stars they came up a little short in their quest for the Triple Crown National Championship with a one run loss to TBS #22 Flower Mound Warriors in the title game. 7. (8) Miami Playmakers (FL) - The Miami Playmakers have been busy since our last rankings. First they won the Pony World Series with a record of 15-0 while making two trips to Texas. With their World Series win they earned a berth to the NYBC in Memphis, TN. The Playmakers went 2-1 in pool play losing to TBS #1 Tomateros. The Playmakers advanced to the semi finals were they would face TBS #11 Chet Lemon’s Juice. The Playmakers would lose the back and forth battle by one run. The Playmakers have shown their willingness to travel. In the last two months this team from Miami has been to Cooperstown, Texas 2x, and Tennessee. 8. (7) GBC Team Acceleration (NC) – GBC slips a few spots with a disappointing showing in the Triple Crown Summer Nationals losing to eventual champion TBS #22 Flower Mound Warriors from Texas. GBC had a strong year playing in ten 11u tournaments winning eight. GBC also had a very strong showing at Cooperstown before losing a great game to eventual champion TBS #4 LMC in the semi finals. This team from North Carolina has also shown their willingness to travel having left their home state many times this season. 9. (11) Texas Nationals Team (TX) – The Nationals had strong showings in two of the top tournaments in the nation, Cooperstown and the Elite 24. With a third place finish in the Elite 24 losing to the eventual champion TBS #3 Banditos Black and an elite eight loss in Cooperstown to finalist TBS #7 Miami Playmakers the Texas Nationals have shown they are a team that will be there in the end. The Nationals are another team that left their home state many times to seek out top competition. They also went to Louisiana to play in the Governor’s Games, arguably the toughest Super NIT in the country were they finished second to TBS #20 Most Feared. 10. (7) OC Black Sox (CA) – The Black Sox round out the Top 10 with a fifth place finish in the Elite 24. With a record of 4-2 and both loses coming at the hands of their cross town rivals TBS #1 Tomateros. The Black Sox had a strong season playing in multiple 11u tournaments and winning the California 10u Major Sate Championship.
Rest of the Best Honorable Mention
