2008 10U Tampa Titans

The Tampa Titans 10U baseball team finished the Florida AAU season with the most points for the second season in a row: 1. Tampa Titans (607 points), 2. Tampa Bay Bulldogs (597), 3. Chet Lemon’s Juice (555). They are the first team to repeat as league winners since the organization began league play eight seasons ago. One reason the team accumulated so many points is because the Titans played the most games out of any FL. AAU team --- in any age division. They also have racked-up the points because they win. This 10U team from Tampa currently has a 34-7 record in 2008 AAU games. They were the only team this season to place in the top 3 in every AAU tournament scheduled including a championship win in the Tournament of Champions.

Now that the AAU League play is over, the Titans will play in their first USSSA tournament this week. In addition to playing in USSSA tournaments, the manager, Scott Powell, and coaches Michael Bello, Lonnie Kitchen, Christopher Wood and Harry Santos want to compete in Triple Crown and IBC Tournaments in an effort to face new teams and the best competition from surrounding regions. Look to see this team in surrounding states competing on Sunday afternoon in an effort to improve individual skills and team play.

The core of this team has been together since they were 8 years old. Even then the team had promise as they made it to the championship game of the State Tournament before falling to the West Pines Nike team (a top 10 team in Travel Ball Select’s ranking system). This year they have collected wins against other TBS ranked teams like the Tampa Bay Bulldogs and Central Florida Bobcats. They have yet to play the Miami Playmakers or LMC (Miami), two other TBS powerhouses, but look forward to the challenge of playing against the best in an effort to get better.

The Titans will wind down their season with a tournament in their back yard. They have a ticket punched for the AAU Nationals in Disney July 13th-20th.
