12U Cincy Flames Formula of Integrity + Baseball Delivers Results

The Cincy Flames were created in 1994 and is one of the most recognized youth baseball organizations in the country.  The mission statement of the Flames is one that isn’t 100% baseball:

To instill the integrity of the game of baseball into each player while helping them understand the greatness of the game. To allow each player to learn the many life lessons associated with the game of baseball. To guide and enhance the development needed to advance to the college or professional level. To provide the best learning environment, the best competition, and the most fun the game of baseball has to offer to its participants.

Following this mission statement has allowed the Cincy Flames organization to help 200+ kids go on to play college baseball and have 25 kids drafted to play professional baseball.  Of those drafted, the Flames have produced three 1st round draft picks:

  • Alex Wimmers – 2010 – Minnesota Twins – 21st pick
  • Kyle Schwarber – 2014 – Chicago Cubs – 4th pick – World Series Champion
  • T.J. Zeuch – Toronto Blue Jays – 21st pick

The 2017 12U Cincy Flames team is comprised of Jonathan Fitz (Burlington, KY), Colt Emerson (Cambridge, Ohio), Braxton Platt (Unioto, Ohio), Aiden Melvin (Wyoming, Ohio), Toby Hueber (West Chester, Ohio), CJ Richard (West Chester, OH), Jackson Wang (Indian Creek, IN), Carson Druckrey (Center Grove, IN), Jackson Sobel (Charleston, SC) and Chase Krewson (South Fayette Township, PA). The coaching staff is comprised of Paul Melvin (Head Coach – 4 years), Chris Druckrey (Asst Coach – 1 Year), Robert Fitz (Asst Coach – 4 years), Jaimie Emerson (Asst Coach – 3 Years) and Eric Platt (Asst Coach – 3 Years).

This summer will be the third trip to the TBS National Ship and the Flames look forward to it more than any other tourney they play due to the level of competition and venue. With the streamlined event set for this year the Flames feel this may be the toughest competition from top to bottom yet. Over the last two years they have been able to make it to the top tier of this tourney and have progressed well into the bracket every year.

The goals for the Flames are always consistent, to control the things we can control. Coach Melvin stated, “Effort and attitude is all the we can control and in that if we do our job, we will perform.”

The Flames open the season as the preseason #23 ranked team.
